Driver escapes a police helicopter

A major police operation, including a helicopter, failed on Sunday night after a teenager suspected of driving without a licence gave officers the slip.

The helicopter was hovering over the streets of Chalfont St Peter for at least an hour.

The driver had been followed from Gerrards Cross after being seen driving erratically on the A40 at about 8pm, before abandoning his vehicle in the car park of Chalfont St Peter football club and trying to escape from officers on foot.
