Taking great care to boost relations
By Jack Abell
A Bishop from India made a trip to Chalfont St Peter C of E School in order to boost relations with a community in the country.
Bishop Lawrence, from the Nandyal region in central India, visited the school, in Penn Road, last Wednesday with his wife and a representative from the Diocese of Oxford.
The trip was organised in order to improve links with the Nandyal region, after the school's success in developing relations with communities in other parts of the world.
Headteacher John Underwood said: "We have forged positive links with five schools in different parts of the world in the past few years, which has enhanced children's thirst for knowledge regarding different cultures. Bishop Lawrence's visit offers a really exciting opportunity and future for us."
The children were given the chance to ask the bishop questions about life in Nandyal, and he was then treated to a selection of songs performed by the pupils.
The school has a history of linking itself with schools in foreign countries and in May this year it managed to raise £6,000 to improve the water supply to the Precious Twins Academy in Kenya.
