22075361 TVP.jpgPolice are warning shopkeepers not to sell fireworks to people aged under 18 after four arson attacks have been committed in Chalfont St Peter in a week.
Sergeant Learie Bacchus of Chalfont St Peter police said that his colleagues would be uncompromising in their dealings with rogue traders who illegally sell fireworks to children.

He said: "People who are selling fireworks to youngsters should know better. We're supposed to be working towards a more law-abiding, joined-up community. If we can prove that they've been doing it, we will take them to court, no ifs, buts or maybes."
Mr Bacchus confirmed that four small fires had been started in Chalfont St Peter and Chalfont St Giles during the past week, either in bins or by youths throwing lit fireworks.
"The arson may be petty, but the damage goes beyond the petty when you're using a naked flame," he said.
Mr Bacchus said anyone who sees fireworks being sold to a person who appears to be under 18 should report the salesman to Crimestoppers.
He praised shopkeepers for heeding police advice not to sell flour or eggs to young people at this time of year, unless as part of a larger grocery purchase.
He added that fireworks would continue to be on sale in many shops for several days after November 5 and that people need to be vigilant.
Although there have been a number of incidents in Chalfont St Peter, other areas have benefited from police warnings and high visibility patrols.
Hotspots for Hallowe'en were Iver Heath and Beaconsfield, with an increase in calls about fireworks and egg throwing between 5.30pm and 8pm.
Crimestoppers are on 0800 555111.
