Village used as dumping site

CSP-Fly-tipping.jpgResidents of blocks of flats in Chalfont St Peter awoke on Monday morning to find litter including bed mattresses strewn on the ground outside their homes.
The recycling bins in the Church Lane car park, which are usually cleared on a Saturday morning, had so much rubbish piled against them that it had to be tidied up on Monday.

People who live in the flats overlooking the car park have put in numerous complaints about the situation to Chiltern District Council (CDC) over the years, because they say they are tired of having to look out of their windows and be confronted with piles of litter.
One resident, who asked not to be named because of previous abuse, said: "I have lived here for about 13 years and the problem has just got worse and worse. The state of it on Monday morning was ridiculous. It is essentially fly-tipping. Those bins are meant to be used for recycling so I have no idea what a mattress was doing there.
"It is horrible to have to look at piles of rubbish all day. I am often woken up at around 2am by people dumping glass bottles there. I appreciate that people need to recycle but that is completely unnecessary."
Although the rubbish was cleared away quickly on Monday morning, people in the flats are convinced that the problem is here to stay.
The resident added: "This will never go away while those bins are there. Over the years, more and more bins have appeared there, and it just creates a lot of noise and mess. People are completely irresponsible with them and ignore it when they are full, which means that all the litter ends up strewn around the car park.
"It makes the area unsightly. What if you had come to visit Chalfont St Peter and saw that? People need to think about it more before leaving their rubbish wherever they want to."
Sue Moffat, of Chalfont St Peter parish council, said: "Leaving the area like that is unacceptable. We need to catch someone in the act of doing it and prosecute them to show others that it is not something that will be tolerated."

We'd like to hear from you.

I have seen this rubbish on and off for 12 years and it is about time something was done about it on a permanent basis. Two men appear nearly day in their lorry to clear up the mess. How costly is this?

If you live in council housing, this is what you get. If you expect better, go get a job and a nicer place. End of story.
