Air Cadet given overseas tour
An air cadet from Denham has been selected for two prestigious overseas trips this year.
Cadet Warrant Officer Stuart McCarthy, 19, will be jetting out to Southern Germany in April, to complete a skiing course as part of a specialist air cadet scheme, and then in July he will fly to Turkey as a member of the UK contingent of the 2009 International Air Cadet Exchange.
He earned his place on the course following a competitive selection process, which included a uniform test and a formal interview, which saw him judged as one of the top ten males in the Bucks and Herts wing of the cadets.
He said: "To be selected for one overseas trip, but to be offered two within a few months of each other is just fantastic and I'm really excited and looking forward to both. I'm honoured that the air training corps has given me these opportunities."
CWO McCarthy has also applied to become a pilot in the Royal Air Force and should find out soon if he has been successful.
