Anonymous letter leads to Denham skeleton discovery
Police are looking for the author of a letter which led them to find the skeleton of a man who had been living rough in Broadsprings Wood, in Denham.
Officers were sent the letter by an anonymous member of the public saying they had come across the remains in the wood, next to junction 16 of the M25 and the slip road onto the M40 towards Uxbridge, when walking their dog.
Det Sgt Paul Duffin, of Thames Valley Police, said: "A post-mortem was conducted and we do not believe the death to be suspicious. However we are keen to speak to the author of the letter.
"After speaking to local residents and landowners we now believe that the body is that of a man who lived rough in the woods for many years.
"Unfortunately no-one we have spoken to knows his name."
Police believe the man was Scottish and between 40 and 60-year-old, around five feet seven inches tall with dark, greying hair.
The man is believed to have begged in the area and Uxbridge Town Centre and frequently shopped in the town.
Anyone who may have known the man or has any information should call Det Sgt Duffin on 0845 8 505 505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
