Making a difference in Chalfont St Peter

A fund raising group is to launch a huge money making blitz throughout March by hosting a series of events in Chalfont St Peter.
The group, called Making a Difference, links South Bucks with a variety of children's projects in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda.
They are inviting people across South Bucks to join together throughout March by taking part in their fund raising schemes.

Three events have been organised, all in Gerrards Cross or Chalfont St Peter, and the charity hopes that by organising them, they will not only be able to help African youngsters, but also bring people closer together in this part of the world.
Wendy Bicker of Chesham, chairman of the board of Making a Difference, said: "In the current financial climate it would be too easy for everyone to look only at their own difficulties or uncertainty about the future. But if people can look outside themselves and their own situation, and get involved positively in the lives of others, they will find that their perspective changes. Not only can we make a difference for children in Kampala, but we will begin to make a difference in the lives of people much closer to home."
The first event takes place on March 12 at Auberge du Chocolat in Packhorse Road, Gerrards Cross and will involve a chocolate demonstration with plenty of opportunities for tasting, with wine, cheese and biscuits included into the £10 ticket cost, which can be bought by calling 07919 193 785 or 07793 113617.
On March 20, the group are holding a race night at the Colston Hall in the Gerrards Cross Memorial Centre.
Two firms from the village, BP Collins and Nunn Hayward have joined together to plan the event, with tickets costing £12.50 and including a curry supper and all proceeds going to Making a Difference. Call 01753 279006 to book a place.
The same night sees a visit to Chalfont St Peter from 80s singer Yazz, who had a hit with The Only Way Is Up.
She will be performing at Gold Hill Baptist Church, with tickets costing £5 which can be bought by phoning 01753 887 173.
