Chalfont's Feast Day shaping up to be best yet

Chalfont St Peter's Feast Day is shaping up to be one of the biggest and best events in the village's history, according to organisers.
The historic event, which was cancelled for the first time in years in 2008 due to a lack of volunteers, is set to come back in a big way this summer.

Organisers hope that it will put Chalfont St Peter on the map and will prove to be a hugely popular event.
Before 2008, the Feast Day, which dates back to medieval times, had become less and less attended, before eventually not taking place at all last year.
This year, thanks to a huge effort from various village groups including the parish council, chamber of commerce and parish church, the event is back, bigger than it has been for decades.
Sandra Clark, of the parish church, said: "The event is intended to showcase all that is good about Chalfont St Peter and profits will go to three local charities. In the remaining days leading up to the event, we shall be selling the 32 page full colour souvenir programme and there are still opportunities for local businesses and organisations to take a stall and add to the diversity."
The event, which will take place on June 27, is set to feature a top Abba tribute act, as well as African and medieval bands.
There will also be a five a side football tournament, a vintage car display, beer tents, a fun fair and historical re-enactments.
Michael Day, chamber of commerce president, said: "Plans are now almost complete for a full day of family entertainment and activity on Gold Hill Common with over fifty stalls and a variety of different acts showcasing a range of talent. I urge you to put the date in your diary and plan a family day out."
