Flower shop defies recession
A CHALFONT St Peter flower shop is celebrating after surviving their first year of business in the face of the credit crunch.
Friday Flowers, in St Peter's Court, opened in June last year and has managed to stay in spite of the recession which has seen other businesses having to close their doors.
Teagan Cornish, who owns the shop, is set to celebrate the anniversary on June 16, and will be selling everything at a 25 per cent discount on that day.
She said: "I didn't believe the credit crunch was as bad people said it was when I first opened, and I think that considering the fact that we are in the middle of a recession, we have done quite well so far.
"I think one of the reasons we've done well is because it's not just flowers that we sell, but other gift items.
"I used to run the business from home so opening up the shop was a big step, but I have been lucky in that a lot of the customers who used to come to me when I ran it from home still visit now I've got the shop.
"I've been really pleased with how things have gone over the last 12 months, and I'm really confident about the future."
