To Hel and back for St Peter pair

THE trip of a lifetime awaits two young men who are set to drive from England to South Africa and back again, while fitting in a trip up Kilimanjaro along the way.
Carl James, 22, of Chalfont St Peter, and Tom Picton, 22, of Beaconsfield, are setting off in September on a route which will take in more than 40 countries and will take around a year to complete.

While on the route, they will stop off in Tanzania while they climb Mount Kilimanjaro before finishing up in Die Hel in South Africa, and have named the expedition To Hel and Back because of this.
When they get there, they will turn round and make their way back to England, arriving around a year after they set off.
Carl, who attended Bangor University, said: "It's difficult to say why we decided to do this. I think that basically we both just wanted to do something we'd never forget now that we've finished university, and this seemed like a great idea. My brother drove to Mongolia as part of the Mongol rally, so I thought it would be good to do something similar."
In the process the pair are aiming to raise funds for the charities Link Ethiopia and Alzheimers Research.
They are being supported by Bradt Travel Guides and Antares electrical engineering, both based in Chalfont St Peter.
Carl added: "We're still a long way off being ready and we don't even have a car yet, so we need as much sponsorship money as possible."
