Two arrested after Tesco robbery

TWO men have been arrested following an attempted armed robbery at a petrol station in Chalfont St Peter.
On Saturday evening, two young men burst into the Tesco Express station in Gravel Hill and attempted to steal money from the till.

However, it is believed that when they discovered the money was locked away, they made their escape, but were arrested the same evening after their car was picked up on the store's CCTV system.
The incident happened at around 9.30pm, but police have not revealed if there were any other customers in the shop at the time.
After the event, police arrived at the scene and cordoned the shop off with tape while they began their investigation.
One resident, who lives near to the shop, said: "There were police everywhere and the whole building was taped off. It was really surprising to see it. I go into that petrol station all the time so it is very strange to think of it being robbed.
"I was told by police at the scene that there had been an attempted armed robbery but they did not say at the time whether they had managed to take anything before escaping."
Police have not yet released any information as to the identities of the two men that they arrested in connection with the incident.
