Villagers warned to be wary of rogue traders

RESIDENTS of Chalfont St Peter are being warned to beware of rogue traders in the village.
Police in the village are appealing for sightings of a blue Mercedes Vito van, registration W395 YBW, which is believed to be linked to rogue traders.

It was seen parked in Austenwood Close at around 2pm, and is believed to be from Maidenhead.
Although police have not said of what specifically the owners of the van are suspected, the warning has caused concern among some residents.
One resident, who lives near Austenwood Close and asked not to be named, said: "It's quite worrying if there are rogue traders operating around here.
"There are a lot of elderly and vulnerable people in Chalfont St Peter, who could easily be taken in by people like this so the police need to catch up with these people as soon as possible and find out exactly what they are up to.
"I haven't heard of any rogue traders operating in this area before so I don't think it's a problem people around here are used to dealing with, which could make the situation more dangerous.
"It would be terrible if people were conned out of money or taken advantage of by rogue traders, so I'm sure that everyone will be keeping an eye out for this van so that the problem can be sorted out quickly."
Anyone with any information about the van should contact police immediately on 0845 8 505 505, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
