Waitrose resubmit plans for Gerrards Cross store
WAITROSE have resubmitted plans for a new supermarket in Gerrards Cross.
The new store, which would be situated in Station Road, will also include 22 apartments above the shop.
Plans for the building were withdrawn earlier this year by developer Frontier Estates following a number of complaints about the problems extra traffic accessing the shop would cause.
There were also concerns that there would not be adequate space for cars wanting to park at the site.
In order to combat this, Frontier has offered £250,000 as a bond to South Bucks District Council as part of its new application, to be used to pay to improve transport access should there be a need for it after the store has opened.
Tony Williamson, director of Frontier Estates, said: "These plans can bring enormous benefits to Gerrards Cross, revitalising an unattractive and underused brownfield site into a thriving mixed-use development. We have an outstanding opportunity to bring Britain's leading high quality supermarket and smart new apartments to the village centre."
