Family tragedy prompts fund raising bid

A FAMILY who have been struck by tragedy are turning their experiences into something positive by organising an event to raise funds for charity.
Last year, Megan Baird was told that her baby had died inside her when she was 39 weeks pregnant.

Doctors recommended that the best course of action was for her to give birth naturally, and six days after being told the devastating news, her son, Elliot Jack, was born.
Megan's family, most of whom live in Chalfont St Peter, were hit hard by the news, and no reason was ever found as to why the baby died.
After the tragedy, Megan and her family were helped by the Stillbirth and Neo-Natal Death Society (SANDS), which specialises in helping people who have gone through similar traumas.
Lyn Baldwin, who is Megan's aunt, said: "It was a very, very hard time for all of us, and we were all incredibly grateful for the help that we were given at the time.
"When something like this happens, it brings the family together, and although we were all devastated and still are, we wanted to try and do something positive, to celebrate Elliot and also to raise money for SANDS, who were so good to us."
The family have decided to organise a charity bazaar, to take place in Chalfont St Peter, to raise cash for their cause.
Members of the family from all generations have got involved in helping out, with children as young as four helping out with designing posters, and grandfather Robin Heard, 77, set to go out in the village in a sandwich board on the day to advertise the event.
Lyn added: ""We have never done anything like this before, but it has been great to rally round as a family. We have organised it all ourselves so we just hope that we get a good turnout on the day."
Attractions at the event include a host of stalls, a raffle, face painting and tombolas, with a vast selection of prizes to be won.
The bazaar will take place on Saturday, September 12 at the Church Hall, Church Lane Chalfont St Peter between 10.30am and 3pm.
