Pensioner raises cash for charity
A PENSIONER from Chalfont St Giles has completed his third consecutive sponsored walk to raise thousands of pounds for charity.
Mike Greenaway, 74, has walked the 12 kilometre perimeter of Richmond Park in Surrey for the past three years to raise money for people suffering from ulcerative colitis, bowel cancer and Crohn's disease.
This year, he managed to raise more than £3,600 thanks to be being sponsored by 300 people.
He said: "It's something that is very close to my heart as I actually suffer from ulcerative colitis. I'm really pleased to have raised so much, it is the highest amount I have made in the three years that I've been doing this."
Mr Greenaway completed the walk with Professor Devinder Kumar of the gastrointestinal surgery at St George's Hospital London, who is currently undertaking research into Chron's disease and bowel cancer.
