Campaign to get Slade top of the charts comes to village

AN APPEAL to the British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) has been launched to help a classic song get to number one.
A Facebook group is hoping to get the service's support to launch the song Far, Far Away by 1970s glam rockers Slade to the top of the charts.

The group want BFBS, who are based in Chalfont St Peter, to take on the campaign, and hope that they will then be able to donate a percentage of the proceeds of the record sales to the Help for Heroes charity.
The song has been chosen by the group of Slade fans as they feel that it will strike a chord with soldiers fighting abroad.
They have contacted Slade's record company to try and gain their support for the campaign, and are now hoping that BFBS will come on board.
A statement on the group's Facebook page, which so far has nearly 700 members, outlines their plans.
It says: "The aim of this group is to see if we can get Far. Far Away back into the charts in 2010, maybe even to number one.
"There are many Facebook campaigns wanting to get songs to number one. We want to succeed where others fail.
"To do this, we must have thousands of members of this group all willing to download Far, Far Away during the same week."
The group has created a video of the song tied into images of the forces, which they hope will demonstrate their campaign, and can be viewed by visiting You Tube and searching for Far, Far Away for British Heroes.
If you would like to join the group, go to Facebook and search for Slade, Far Far Away Up the Charts.

We'd like to hear from you.
