Residents angered at grit taking drivers

RESIDENTS in South Bucks have been left angered at the selfish actions of drivers in the snow.
Buckinghamshire County Council (BCC) have been filling up grit boxes at roadsides throughout the area to help residents deal with snow and ice on the roads.

However, there have been reports that some drivers are not sharing the grit, with some even taking the entire amount for themselves.
This has meant that others have been forced to go without, and have struggled in the snow when they should not have had to.
One resident of Chalfont St Peter said: "My road is on a hill, so we are supposed to be given some grit by the council to help us leave our homes.
"On Thursday last week, when the snow was very bad, I went to the box to put some grit on the section of road outside my house to help me get the car out but there was none there.
"I was about to complain to the council, but my neighbour told me that there he had seen a guy in a four by four at the box the following evening, emptying the box of grit, leaving none for the people who actually live in the road and who the grit was put out for.
"It is a disgrace. I can't believe that people would be so selfish. The grit is there to help everyone so I don't know why some feel the need to take it all for themselves.
"It meant that I had to struggle to get my car out when I shouldn't have had to, all because of the actions of one selfish individual."
There have also been similar reports from residents living in Chesham and Gerrards Cross, who have also found grit boxes emptied of their contents.
