Residents hit out at homes plans
RESIDENTS of Chalfont St Peter have slammed Chiltern District Council (CDC) after a meeting was held to discuss the possibility of building new homes in the village.
On Thursday last week, CDC held a meeting to discuss how it would proceed with its Draft Core Strategy plan, which addresses government demands for more homes in the area.
After a consultation with the public, CDC decided to proceed with Option Three of their plan, which would see the majority of the new homes being built in Chalfont St Peter, Amersham and Chesham, despite the fact that most people asked had expressed a preference for the homes to be dispersed across the Chiltern area.
They now say that they are going to consult the public on this option, but residents who attended the meeting questioned the point of this, saying that they feel that their future has already been decided.
Richard Allen, chairman of Chalfont St Peter parish council, said: "I thought we made our views very clear to CDC.
"They say that they are going to consult on option three, but this seems pointless as it seems that they have already made their minds up.
"We have conducted our own survey of the views of people in this village, and they are massively against these plans. We have asked much more people their views on this than CDC have, and we know that people in Chalfont St Peter are massively against these plans."
If the plans go ahead, it could see hundreds of homes being built at the site of the former Holy Corss convent school and the vacant Newland Park site.
A group has been set up in Chalfont St Peter to prepare a Village Design Statement in order to present a viable alternative to CDC in order to control how the new homes in the village are distributed.

We are required by Government to find space for 2,900 homes by 2026. We have a draft core strategy which we will soon be consulting on with all residents and businesses in Chiltern. Our message is, wait until the consultation, then please take part in it
