Office blocks set for completion

THREE new office blocks in Chalfont St Peter are set for completion during the next few months.

Buildings at the Chiltern Park development are currently under construction and Barwood Developments, who are behind the project, estimate that all the buildings will be finished and occupied by different companies by July, with the first building set for completion by the end of March.

The project has been criticised by people living in nearby Lower Road and Woodside Close, who say that the buildings are too intrusive and will overlook their homes.

They also fear that the buildings will lead to parking problems in the area.

Bill Harrington, of Harrington's Commerical Property Consultants, who are acting on behalf of Barwood Developments, said: "The last remaining office building is attracting interest from various occupiers seeking one of the only new build opportunites brought to the market in the South East in the last few years."

The first building, which will be completed during the next month, will be occupied by a lighting company from Hayes.

There are already two other office blocks at the site which were built in 2009 and proved to be popular with businesses, leading to the construction of the new buildings.

However, people living nearby remain concerned about the effect that the development will have on the area.

Peter Wilson, 45, a business owner from Lower Road, said: "The offices are too close to people's homes and will dominate the views that we have from our windows.

"They will bring more people into the village, and that will mean more traffic problems as well.

"We will have to wait and see the full impact when they are finished, but myself and my neighbours are very concerned about it. It could have a big effect on our house prices."
